Critical Response to Early Screenings of AQUAMAN Are Damn Good
We’ve been keeping our eyes on Aquaman since Day 1 for one primary reason: It’s being helmed by 21st Century Master of Horror James Wan, co-mastermind of the Saw and Insidious franchises, not to mention The Conjuring universe. While we’ve always had our doubts, nagging suspicions that the source material simply isn’t horror-adjacent enough to warrant Wan’s participation, response to early screenings have us heaving a huge sigh of relief.
Corin Hardy recently shot to prominence for helming The Nun, the most atmospheric and relentlessly sinister chapter in The Conjuring franchise to date. Here’s what he thought of Aquaman:
Wonderment came over me throughout James Wan’s epic, phosphorescent #Aquaman. Ginormo-framed undersea worlds, mythical monsters & wide-eyed adventure-vision recalling #RayHarryhausen’s #ClashOfTheTitans, #FlashGordon & #IndianaJones..

And Hardy isn’t the only one singing Aquaman’s praises:
Against all odds, I really dug #Aquaman, which offers thrills chills and a whole lotta adventure for the whole family! Also the president of the United States is a demonstrably evil racist and there appears to be nothing we can do about that! See it on the biggest screen possible

So I really enjoyed #Aquaman! James Wan has made an unapologetically bold superhero flick, mixing adventure and fantasy elements with stunning visual effects, a terrific lead in Jason Momoa (who's clearly having the time of his life), and a great heroine in Amber Heard's Mera. pic.twitter.com/V8bnw6mnCX

#Aquaman is the best DC movie since The Dark Knight.@creepypuppet delivers a swashbuckling epic full of big emotion, gorgeous undersea visuals, exciting action, and lots of laughs.
WB should be handing the DCEU reins to James Wan, he's proven he can, ahem, right the ship. pic.twitter.com/4hjxdmNLDf

These are just a few of the journalists heaping accolades on Aquaman. The film stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, and Dolph Lundgren; look for it to make a huge splash in theaters beginning December 21st.
Synopsis:
Aquaman finds himself caught between a surface world that ravages the sea and the underwater Atlanteans who are ready to revolt.
