Another familiar face has joined Guillermo del Toro’s giant monsters vs. robots movie Pacific Rim, and we’re nothing short of giddy at the news. Read on for all of the details.
During an interview with Wired Magazine, del Toro dropped the news that Ron Perlman will be joining the previously announced Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day, Idris Elba, Diego Klattenhoff, Rinko Kikuchi, and Rob Kazinsky on the flick.
“It’s really, it’s a very, very beautiful poem to giant monsters. Giant monsters versus giant robots,” says Guillermo of the film. “Twenty-five-story-high robots beating the crap out of 25-story-high monsters. We’re trying to create a world in which the characters are real and how it would affect our world politically, how it would affect the landscape if creatures like this really came out of the sea, etc.”
Music to our ears.
Travis Beacham’s script is set in 2025, the 12th year of a war against alien creatures who reside in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The story finds a group of humans banding together to create and pilot massive robots to fight the giant creatures threatening to destroy Earth.
Look for Pacific Rim in theaters May 10th, 2013.
