ALONE IN THE WOODS Release Self-Titled Debut Album Today
Those who follow the world of horror vinyl, or just soundtracks on vinyl in general, almost certainly know the name of Jon Dobyns, the man behind Tiger Lab Vinyl, the boutique label dedicated to releasing anime soundtracks on record. The label has already released titles such as Perfect Blue, Wicked City, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, and more. What many might not realize is that Dobyns has a long history of performing and writing original music of his own. In the early part of this decade, Dobyns and his co-writing partner Lonn Bologna worked together under the moniker Twitch the Ripper, releasing two albums and several singles and EPs. Today, the duo is officially back with the release of their self-titled debut album under a new name: Alone in the Woods.
A purely instrumental album with 10 original tracks, there are influences from a wide range of genres. But at its core, it pulsates with the same darkness that imbues the work of Goblin, Depeche Mode, Fabio Frizzi, and the like. There is a catchy eeriness and seductive mystery that weaves between each song, ultimately creating a wonderful experience that feels like a journey through the very films that we love and hold so dearly.
Alone in the Woods is released through Burning Witch Records and can be ordered via Bandcamp on green burst effect vinyl that has been limited to 500 copies worldwide. As of this post being written, just over 60 remain. Digital downloads are also available. Alternatively, you can pick it up directly through Burning Witches Records.
