There’s No One to Trust in Trailer for Twisty Thriller RUST CREEK from IFC Midnight

IFC Midnight recently drew the ire of the MPAA for screening an uncut version of Lars von Trier’s The House that Jack Built, a film so insidious it apparently required additional paperwork before it could be legally shown. Hopefully, they’ll have better luck with Rust Creek, a gritty, twisty thriller about a lost motorist in the wrong place at the right time.

While it may sound like a scenario you’ve heard a million times before, the trailer (embedded at the top of the article) makes it clear Rust Creek is something special; a complex cat-and-mouse chase down a rabbit hole of drugs, murder, and deception. Who can you trust when everyone has something to hide?

Synopsis:
Sawyer, an ambitious, overachieving college senior with a seemingly bright future. While on her way to a job interview, a wrong turn leaves her stranded deep in the frozen Kentucky woods. Suddenly, the young woman with everything to live for finds herself facing her own mortality as she’s punished by the elements and pursued by a band of ruthless outlaws. With nowhere left to run, she is forced into an uneasy alliance with Lowell, an enigmatic loner with shadowy intentions. Though she’s not sure she can trust him, Sawyer must take a chance if she hopes to escape Rust Creek alive.

Rust Creek is directed by Jen McGowan and stars Hermione Corfield, Denise Dal Vera, Jay Paulson, and Jeremy Glazer. The film hits limited theaters and VOD platforms on January 4th.
