Borne Upon Wings of Fire, Here’s Rodan in GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS!
Perhaps one of the most anticipated films of 2019, at least for me, is Michael Dougherty’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The follow-up to Gareth Edwards’ 2014 entry, this film will see the titular kaiju face off against Mothra, King Ghidorah, and Rodan. Today, the Monarch Sciences Twitter account tweeted out a four-second video that shows off that last one in what can only be described as an awe-inspiring moment as Rodan soars above what appears to be a broken, crumbling city, its wings trailing fire and shimmering with embers. The scale is conveyed in such a way that this is one of the first times I’ve ever felt genuinely astonished by the enormity of what I’m seeing. This is pure majesty, no doubt about it.

The crypto-zoological agency Monarch faces off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah.
Dougherty directed from a screenplay he co-penned with Zach Shields; the film stars Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, and Sally Hawkins. Godzilla: King of the Monsters will smash into US theaters beginning May 31.
