Exclusive VAMPIRONICA #5 Preview is a Descent Into a Pure Nightmare

When I was growing up, the Archie comics were rather pure and innocent. Sure, there was some strongly suggested sexual activity going on but it was all done in a playful nature. That all changed in 2013 when the publisher launched Afterlife with Archie, their first horror series as well as their first series to be rated TEEN+. Since then, the publication has come up with several more horror-infused alternate universes that have led to the launch of more adult-oriented stories, including The Chilling Tales of Sabrina, Riverdale, and more. Showing no signs of stopping, the publisher is happy to take us ever deeper into a world where the familiar faces of Archie, Veronica, Jughead, and the rest of the gang face threats far worse than bad grades or a lack of hamburgers!

Today, we want to give you an exclusive look at the fifth issue of Vampironica, the series that began in March of this year. Created and written by Mega and Greg Smallwood, the latter of whom does art alongside Greg Scott, the series follows Veronica after she’s become a strigoi vampire. Striving to protect Riverdale while seeking a cure for her own malady, she seeks out the master vampire whose death will break her curse.

“ Veronica must endure a series of brutal challenges in order to put a stop to the vampirism that’s taken over Riverdale once and for all. But what surprises await her back at the Lodge mansion?”

This issue features variant covers by Matthew Taylor and Francesco Francavilla. You can see the gallery of pages below and make sure to pick up your copy when it hits shelves on December 12.
