First Look at Sword-Wielding Skeksis Warrior from THE DARK CRYSTAL Prequel Coming to Netflix

A prequel to 1982’s The Dark Crystal (in the form of a 10-episode Netflix series called Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance) was first announced in 2017, but except for a murmur here and a mutter there, there’s been little in terms of news or updates on the project in 2018. In an age of leaks and few (if any) secrets, Jim Henson’s Creature Shop has done an incredible job of keeping the production under wraps… which is what makes this picture so exciting.

Creature designer and fabrication supervisor Tim Clarke shared a picture of a sword-wielding Skeksis warrior via Instagram. It reveals the production is using actual puppets against a green screen, so we can look forward to plenty more exciting practical effects to come. Could this be a younger version of the Emperor who died in the first act of Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal, triggering a power struggled among the Skeksis?

Give it a look-see below, followed by the synopsis and announcement teaser for The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. We’ll keep you posted as news emerges so stay tuned!
