Legendary Just Acquired Feature Film Rights to Cult Franchise THE TOXIC AVENGER
The studio behind Godzilla: King of the Monsters has zeroed in on another radioactive anti-hero to get behind. Today brings word that Legendary Entertainment has snatched up the feature film rights to the cult classic franchise The Toxic Avenger. (Just don’t expect any Godzilla vs Toxie crossovers!).
The irreverent b-movie darling was released by Troma back in1984 and has since become something of a phenomenon. Not only are there numerous sequels (of vastly varying quality) there was even a Toxic Avenger Musical! If you aren’t familiar with our pal Toxie, check out the synopsis and trailer below.
Synopsis:
A 98-pound nerd (Mark Torgl) from New Jersey lands in a vat of toxic waste and becomes a benevolent monster (Mitchell Cohen).
