Vampires vs Hurricane Katrina? THE SHALLOWS Writer’s Next Flick Sounds Insane
Lionsgate has acquired the rights to a spec script from TheShallows writer Anthony Jaswinski. The French Quarter Will Not Be Spared is a vampire flick that takes place in New Orleans. But don’t expect a period piece like portions of Interview with a Vampire; TheFrench Quarter Will Not Be Spared takes place in 2005 during and following Hurricane Katrina.
According to Deadline:
The goal is to make a visceral and socially relevant horror film in the vein of A Quite Place or Get Out. Kenya Barris will produce along with The Picture Company partners Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman. Josh Feldman will oversee for
Khalabo Ink Society. The producer deals are still being made.
It’s unknown if the vampires will use the hurricane opportunistically to gorge themselves on the blood of the displaced or if the blood-suckers will be just as impacted by the rising waters. Time will tell, but if it’s written with half of the suspense and intensity of The Shallows, we’ll be getting something good. We’ll keep our ears to the ground for additional details ast hey emerge.
