Exclusive Motion Poster for THE QUAKE Will Rock Your Cell Phone!

When it comes to marketing an upcoming horror movie, studios are always looking for unique angles to pique a potential viewer’s interest. Though the technology is new, we recently shared a 3D poster from the folks at Paramount promoting their upcoming creeper Pet Sematary (link below). Today, we’re pleased to share a similar 3D poster for the upcoming disaster horror The Quake, and this one has an interactive twist!

We shared this motion poster earlier this morning on Facebook. When viewing it on your cell-phone, however, shaking it will approximate the onscreen tremors contained in The Quake, now playing in select theaters and VOD platforms!

Here’s the straight dope: The motion poster is awesome, but The Quake doesn’t need a gimmick to get your attention. Regular readers of Dread Central may remember that the film made my personal Top 10 list of horror movies screened at this year’s Fantastic Fest. While American disaster movies (like Twister and San Andreas, for example) are ridiculously campy, Norwegians know how to make an eco-horror that can knock you off the edge of your seat!

If you need any more convincing, check out the synopsis and trailer below.

Synopsis:
In 1904 an earthquake with a 5.4 magnitude on the Richter scale shook Oslo. Its epicenter was in the Oslo Rift which runs directly through the Norwegian capital. There are recorded quakes from the rift on a daily basis and geologists cannot be sure, but arguments indicate that we can expect major future earthquakes in this area. When – nobody can say for certain – but we know that the density of people and infrastructure in Oslo is significantly more vulnerable today than in 1904.

What if a massive earthquake is looming?

The Quake is directed by John Kåre Raake who co-wrote the screenplay with Harald Rosenløw-Eeg; the film stars Kristoffer Joner, Ane Dahl Torp, and Hang Tran.
