James Wan Was Never Actually Attached to Produce RESIDENT EVIL Reboot
When word came down the pike earlier this year that the Resident Evil franchise was being rebooted, the news was met with skepticism. It’s barely been two years since 2016’s The Final Chapter, after all. But when it was revealed that James Wan was on board as a producer, most of us were willing to put our reservations on hold. Wan is, after all, the architect of many of the 21st Century’s most successful horror franchises (Saw, Insidious, and The Conjuring to name a few).

Well, not only is Wan no longer involved in plans for a new Resident Evil, it turns out he never really was. Here’s what he recently told Bloody Disgusting, who got the exclusive:
“I’m not doing that anymore. That has been dropped… They announce that I’m attached to a lot of stuff and a lot of them are not necessarily real. It’s kind of annoying when things come and go, or things never came in the first place. I hate it when my projects get announced. It makes it seem like I’m attached to a lot of things when in fact I’m not necessarily doing so many things. A lot of my stuff just get announced and I don’t want them to be announced but people love to announce them.”

While I’ll still do my best to keep my expectations in check, my enthusiasm for the Resident Evil reboot has dropped dramatically. How do you guys feel about this revelation? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram!
