Did Latest Trailer for GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS Include New Monster “Fake Outs”?
We know for a fact that when Godzilla rises from the depths for Godzilla: King of the Monsters this May, he’ll be battling Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah. We’ve also been told to expect new monsters, but whether these will be reimaginings of classic Toho characters or original creatures created by Legendary remains to be seen.
In the second trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, we saw a couple of these potential new arrivals: The first showed its claws while emerging from an oil field and the second seemed to be an entire mountain coming to life. In the video above, Mr.H explains that there’s actually a precedent for Legendary doing just this. When footage from 2014’s Godzilla was screened at San DiegoComic-Con, it included images of a huge, segmented monster with at least ten appendages(dubbed “Vishnu”). But this beast wasn’t part of the film, nor was he ever intended to be. Legendary admitted that it was a ruse only meant only to reveal that Godzilla would battle other MUTOs.
