JOHN 5 AND THE CREATURES’ Latest Video is a Loving Homage to SCOOBY DOO and METALOCALYPSE
For those looking to add some horror into their rock, John 5 and the Creatures – which obviously features John 5 of Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie fame – are going to be releasing their new album Invasion sometime this Summer. While that may seem like it’s a ways away, those who are interested in listening to the album can take solace in the fact that the group will be releasing multiple music videos over the coming months and they’ve started with today’s offering: “Zoinks!”
Directed by Brett Boggs and featuring footage shot by Matt Zane, the video blends 2D animations with digitally altered live-action scenes. The video also has cameo voices from Nikki Sixx, Fred Coury, and Susan Olsen (The Brady Bunch‘s Cindy Brady).
Done with a seriously heavy nod to Scooby Doo and Metalocalypse, the video starts with a cute little story of John 5 needing to save his girlfriend after she’s kidnapped by a giant cyclops. Once he’s done so, he’s free to rock “Zoinks!” at the local monster venue where ghouls and creatures dance about!
Speaking about future plans with Invasion, John 5 states, “My new album will be out this coming summer, and will feature a very secret, special guest that I will reveal in the coming weeks. Up first, on February 1, we’ll release the next music video for the track “Crank It”. Then, on March 1, we’ll release the video sequel to “Zoinks!”, for the track entitled “I Am John 5”. This video, like “Zoinks!”, will also be animated and directed by Brett Boggs.”
