Man Has Dysfunctional Relationship with a Hideous Puppet in POSSUM Coming to DVD
Even as adults, we carry our childhoods around with us in the form of memories and mementos, but also unresolved psychological traumas. For Philip, his unhappy childhood is somehow related to a hideous puppet that holds some kind of powerful sway over him. Worst of all, the puppet won’t die. If you think Chucky and Annabelle are creepy, wait until you get a look at Possum!
Today brings word that Possum is arriving on DVD from Dark Sky Films on February 12th. Check out the synopsis and trailer below.
Synopsis:
Philip (Sean Harris, Mission: Impossible
-Fallout & Rogue Nation, Deliver Us From Evil), a disgraced children’s
puppeteer, returns to his dilapidated childhood home and lecherous stepfather,
Maurice. Philip is intent on destroying “Possum,” a hideously
malformed spider-puppet he carries with him in a brown leather case.
Unfortunately, and horrifically, Possum refuses to be abandoned.
Philip’s mind is flooded with painful half-memories and nightmarish visions, and when he finds himself embroiled in a local investigation surrounding a missing boy, he grows progressively unsure of what’s real and what’s not. All the while Possum seems to mock his suffering at every turn.
Possum is written and directed by Matthew Holness. In addition to Harris, the film stars Alun Armstrong, Simon Bubb, and Andy Blithe.
