Someone Did the BIRD BOX Challenge While Driving & (Obviously) Crashed
Okay, things have officially gotten out of hand!
The Netflix Original Bird Box was December’s unlikely horror hit; the film involves an entity that will kill you if you look at it, so the characters learn (over time) how to perform difficult tasks blindfolded. Thus, the #BirdBoxChallenge was born. In an effort to create the next greatest meme, fans of the film attempted to go about their day-to-day activities blindfolded. Hilarity ensued but, in all seriousness, Netflix made a point of discouraging viewers from “playing” the game.

One sequence in Bird Box features characters driving a car with blacked-out windows using the vehicles GPS as a guide. Apparently, a 17-year-old in Utah figured, “Why not?” and, well, you can probably guess what happened. Obviously, she crashed! Though Layton Police haven’t reviewed the identity of the driver, they posted the aftermath of her attempt at the #BirdBoxChallenge.
“Bird Box Challenge while driving…predictable result. This happened on Monday as a result of the driver covering her eyes while driving on Layton Parkway. Luckily no injuries.”
Umm, yeah…

If you haven’t seen Bird Box yet, you can check out the synopsis and trailer below. And if you’re thinking of participating in the #BirdBoxChallenge—don’t!
Synopsis:
When a mysterious force decimates the population, only one
thing is certain — if you see it, you die. The survivors must now avoid coming
face to face with an entity that takes the form of their worst fears. Searching
for hope and a new beginning, a woman and her children embark on a dangerous
journey through the woods and down a river to find the one place that may offer
sanctuary. To make it, they’ll have to cover their eyes from the evil that
chases them — and complete the trip blindfolded.
Bird Box is directed by Susanne Bier; Eric Heisserer penned the screenplay based on Josh Malerman’s novel.
