Paul Feig Supports Leslie Jones & Offers His Own Opinion on Upcoming GHOSTBUSTERS 3

When word came down the pike last week that a new Ghostbusters film was in the works that will reunite the original cast, legions of horror-comedy fans were elated. Leslie Jones, who co-stared in Paul Feig’s unfairly maligned Ghostbusters reboot in 2016, however, was nonplused. She made her feelings known unequivocally via Twitter. To recap:

“So insulting. Like fuck us. We [don’t] count. It’s like something Trump would do. (Trump voice) ‘Gonna redo ghostbusteeeeers, better with men, will be huge. Those women ain’t ghostbusteeeeers’ ugh so annoying. Such a dick move. And I don’t give fuck I’m saying something!!”

Now, Feig is weighing in (also via Twitter) and, as can be expected, he’s fully supportive of Jones speaking her mind. On the subject of Ghostbusters 3, however, he seems more diplomatic; at the very least, he’s choosing his words carefully!

“An absolute honest to God never ending supply of bullshit and hate from these trolls. Leslie spoke her truth and I support her. I am very open to Jason [ Reitman’s] new version of GB but am also sad that our 2016 team may not get to bust again. We all are. We’re forever proud of our movie.”

At the very least, I think we can all agree that it’s a damn shame Ghostbusters 2016 garnered so much unwarranted negativity, and if trolls are harassing Jones again simply for expressing her personal opinion, our hearts go out to her.

Of course, it’s worth pointing out that Ghostbusters 3 may not even be the film Sony is setting us up for. Read more about our suspicions in the link below.
