Don’t Look Now! BIRD BOX Gets the “Honest Trailer” Treatment
The folks a Screen Junkies have amassed legions of followers for their snarky yet spot-on assessments of today’s biggest genre offerings in the form of “Honest Trailers”. How many times have moviegoers felt misled by a promo that promises boatloads of excitement for a film that turns out to be extremely lackluster? The irony of “Honest Trailers” is that they arrive too late to give us a truly objective look at the films we spend our hard-earned dollars on.

Their latest subject (victim?) is Netflix’s Bird Box, the much-buzzed about, surprise horror hit of last December. Look, no one is saying the film wasn’t compelling, but there’s plenty to poke fun at as well. Give the “Honest Trailer” a spin at the top of the article, followed by the official synopsis and trailer for Bird Box below.
Synopsis:
When a mysterious force decimates the population, only one thing
is certain — if you see it, you die. The survivors must now avoid coming face
to face with an entity that takes the form of their worst fears. Searching for
hope and a new beginning, a woman and her children embark on a dangerous
journey through the woods and down a river to find the one place that may offer
sanctuary. To make it, they’ll have to cover their eyes from the evil that
chases them — and complete the trip blindfolded.
Bird Box is directed by Susanne Bier; Eric Heisserer penned the screenplay based on Josh Malerman’s novel. The film stars Sandra Bullock, Trevante Rhodes, and John Malkovich.
