Support DARK DELICACIES Auction This Saturday & Score Primo Memorabilia

For horror fans who live in and around Los Angeles, Dark Delicacies in Burbank is nothing short of an institution. Imagine a comic shop, a bookstore, and a permanent (mini) genre convention all in the same spot. You can score everything from books about film theory to hard-to-find collectables while stumbling upon treasures you never knew existed.

Unfortunately, Dark Delicacies (established in 1994) faced the potential of a shut-down due to skyrocketing rents. Luckily, owner Del Howison found a potential new home for his shop; taking to GoFundMe, he explained:

Del Howison

A store front around the corner became available. A possible new location, coupled with all the people who wrote and stopped by asking us to stay in business, made Sue and I realize we weren’t ready to go quietly into the night.

Although we may be a little more tired at the end of the day than when we first opened, our passion is still the same. We want to continue offering a place for people to drop by and hang out for a while, meet up with friends or make new ones.

Our escalating rent over the last few years created an enormous financial strain. Some days we were just happy to be able to keep our lights on. Moves are expensive and this one is no exception. So, we are asking for a little help in making a resurrection possible.

We’re pleased to report that Howison surpassed his funding goal of $30K in just under two weeks. But there’s more to be done and bills that must be paid. To that end, Dark Delicacies is holding an auction this Saturday, February 2nd beginning at 7 PM. It could be a once-in-a-lifetime experience to score some primo memorabilia!

About the event:
Dark Delicacies is moving from its third home to a brand-new location in Burbank, California. That location has already been secured but needs a lot of work before we can move in. The costs associated with this fix up and relocation are formidable. One of the ways that we are putting together the money to pay for this work is the sale and auction of signed individual items from our archives covering 24 years of being America’s Home of Horror. We are also receiving donations. Since many of these items are donations, we will not have COAs to issue with them.

All money goes to repairing and moving Dark Delicacies to its new location beginning June 1st. Dark Delicacies will continue operating out of the current storefront until May 31st and have as seamless a transition as possible. We were going to cease business at the end of our current lease (May 31st) but it was YOU, the fans and the genre people, who convinced us to stay. Thank you from the bottom of our little black hearts. We hope we make it worthwhile.

In the sections listed in the Fundraiser Event Page are two categories of items. We will continue adding new items into these categories as we get them and you will be able to preview them here.
