KORN Sues Former Drummer for Sneaky Maneuvers & Blocking Profits
The good news is, Korn frontman Jonathan Davis and lead guitarist Munky have been promising a new album in 2019. The bad news is, the band’s former drummer is rock-blocking Korn from receiving payments they’re owed. It’s a bit of a complex situation that our friends at Rock Feed attempt to unravel in the video above. Here’s the gist.
David Silveria is a founding member of Korn who played drums in the band from 1993 until his departure in 2006. The reasons he left have always been nebulous; the other members of Korn say he was fired but Silveria claims he was blindsided after being told that the band was merely going on hiatus.

The litigiousness began in 2015 when Silveria took the rest of Korn to court claiming that, as a founding member of the band, he was entitled to a percentage of future revenues. The request must have been fair enough, because that suit was settled out of court. Now, Korn is suing Silveria over the loss of $300K in lost revenue.
Davis and company claim Silveria violated the terms of the 2015 settlement by using backchannels to request a share of revenue from the band’s tunes on Sound Exchange. When Korn cried foul, Sound Exchange decided to step out of the fray completely by putting a hold on Korn’s entire catalog. Thus, the loss of revenue, estimated at around $300K.
