THE DEADLY MANTIS Leaping Onto Blu-ray Next Month
The 1957 creature feature The Deadly Mantis will finally be heading to Blu-ray next month, courtesy of Scream Factory.
Widely viewed as a classic of the ‘50s monster era, The Deadly Mantis takes place deep in the far northern Arctic region of Canada, in which military personal are menaced by a giant preying mantis after it awakens after being frozen in ice for thousands of years. Originally distributed by Universal, the film was directed by Nathan H. Juran, and starred Craig Stevens, William Hopper, Alix Talton, Donald Randolph, and Pat Conway.
The Blu-ray will feature a 2K scan of the original film, along with a new audio commentary from film historians Tom Weaver And David Schecter, the Mystery Science Theatre 3000 Episode “The Deadly Mantis”, and a gallery of stills.
