GREMLINS Animated Series in Production at WarnerMedia Streaming

While the script for Gremlins 3 written by Chris Columbus continues to gather dust on a shelf somewhere, we’ve nonetheless got good news for Mogwai fans this Monday. Variety just got the exclusive in a Gremlins animated series in the works at WarnerMedia Streaming Service! It’s been decades, but if you were hoping to find out what Gizmo’s been up to all this time, sorry: It’s going to be a prequel series.

The potential series is said to be a period piece that would follow Mr. Wing, the Chinese grandfather played in the films by Keye Luke, as a young man as he goes on adventures with the friendly Mogwai Gizmo. The series will be produced by Warner Bros. Television and Amblin Television. Both Warner Bros. and Amblin produced the films on which the show will be based.

While it isn’t the live action feature film so many Gremlins fans have been dreaming about, it’ll hold us over—or at least give us a hefty dose of nostalgia. This news is just breaking, but we’ll be keeping our ears to the ground in order to bring you additional details as they emerge. Stay tuned!
