Finn Wolfhard in Talks to Play One of the New GHOSTBUSTERS
In a move that perhaps signals Hollywood is cannibalizing itself or becoming its own multiverse, IT/Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard may be one of the new Ghostbusters in Jason Reitman’s upcoming sequel. There’s a circular/meta element to this possibility. Wolfhard starred in Stranger Thing, which ushered in an age of 1980s era nostalgia. That ignited a Stephen King Renaissance that led to Andy Muschietti’s IT (2017) which also starred the teenager. Stay with me here.

Then, in Season 2 of Stranger Things (2018) Wolfhard and his Losers Club, I mean, his Hawkins Posse dressed up as Ghostbusters for Halloween. This further fanned the flames of nostalgia and fond memories of Ghostbusters specifically. You see what I’m saying, right? It’s not life imitating art—it’s art imitating art. Like, Wolfhard’s Ghostbusters get-up doubled as his audition tape for Reitman’s movie.
My brain hurts.
The point is, Wolfhard is busy; according to Variety:
Wolfhard recently wrapped Season 3 of Stranger Things, which premieres on Netflix this July, and is also expected to reprise his role in It: Chapter 2 this fall. He also has The Goldfinch and The Turning at Amblin.
