What if Superman Was a Villain? 2nd Trailer for BRIGHTBURN Crashes the Internet
The folks at Marvel and DC have been promising an R-rated superhero flick that ventures into horror territory for years, but so far, nothing has materialized. Early reports that Venom would be rated R proved untrue; similarly, it was recently announced that the Black Widow movie will be rated PG-13. What’s a horror fan to do?
Just wait until Memorial Day! That’s when the James Gunn-produced Brightburn crashes into theaters. The set-up sounds almost like the origin story of Superman and the Kent family, but things go sideways quickly. Try not to flinch at the trailer embedded at the top of the article. Some scenes are genuinely hard to watch!
Synopsis:
What if a child from another world
crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to
be something far more sinister? With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive
take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.
Brightburn is directed by David Yarovesky from a screenplay penned by Brian Gunn and Mark Gunn; the film stars Elizabeth Banks, David Denman, and Matt Jones. Look for Brightburn in US theaters beginning May 24th.
