Jesse Eisenberg Gives Update on ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP from SXSW

When Zombieland: Double Tap hits theaters this October, it will be almost 10 years to the day since we first met “Tallahassee”, “Little Rock”, “Wichita”, and “Columbus” (played by Woody Harrelson, Abigail Breslin, Emma Stone, and Jesse Eisenberg respectively). A decade can put a lot of pressure on the cast, not to mention original Zombieland director and scribe, Ruben Fleischer and Rhett Reese respectively.

We might have all of the same ingredients in the mix, but are those involved truly committed to catching lightinng in a bottle for a second time? According to Eisenberg: Yes, absolutely. Our friends at MovieWeb caught up with the actor at SXSW yesterday where they scored this update on Zombieland: Double Tap:

“It’s going really well. Just resting on our laurels and really cocky [laughs]. No, the opposite. We’re working so hard. It’s one of these movies that, people loved it for personal reasons. So it’s not just a big hit movie. People love it for personal reasons so you want to make sure it’s as funny and as personal as the other one.”

Of course, it’s difficult to know for sure from words on a screen, but it feels like Eisenberg is genuinely excited about his return to Zombieland. It always bodes well when those involving in the filmmaking process are personally committed to meeting or exceeding expectations. Let’s just hope Zombieland: Double Tap actually delivers the goods.

No pressure guys!

We don’t have a trailer yet for Zombieland: Double Tap, but while we wait, you can stroll down Memory Lane by revisiting the trailer for 2009’s Zombieland below.

Synopsis:
After a virus turns most people into zombies, the world’s surviving humans remain locked in an ongoing battle against the hungry undead. Four survivors — Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) and his cohorts Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) — abide by a list of survival rules and zombie-killing strategies as they make their way toward a rumored safe haven in Los Angeles.
