Chris Fehn is No Long Part of SLIPKNOT; Band Releases Official Statement
And then there were eight.
It’s been three days since we relayed reports that Slipknot percussionist Chris Fehn (aka #3), recognizable for his “gimp” mask with a zipper-mouth and Pinocchio nose, was suing the band for what he claimed were misleading and underhanded business practices that deprived him of personal revenue. Today, Slipknot has officially announced that Fehn is no longer part of the band; here’s the statement they released online:
“Slipknot’s focus is on making album #6, and our upcoming shows around the world, our best ever. Chris knows why he is no longer a part of Slipknot. We are disappointed that he chose to point fingers and manufacture claims, rather than doing what was necessary to continue to be a part of Slipknot. We would have preferred he not take the path that he has, but evolution in all things is a necessary part of this life. Long Live The Knot.”
Some may see this statement as the band punishing Fehn for standing up for what he believes he’s owed; others feel like the Slipknot was forced in a corner by a disgruntled member who took his personal complaints to the media as opposed to working these issues out internally. It’ll probably be years before the full story is truly known, but one thing is certain: This marks a new chapter for the band.
Fehn is a founding member of Slipknot who has been part of the band since 1998. In 2019, maggots (aka Slipknot Fans) are expecting a new tour (The Knotfest Roadshow) and a new album (rumored to be dropping this August). It’s unclear now whether Fehn’s contributions to the upcoming album will be scrapped in the final product now that he has fallen out of the band’s good graces.
