Macon Blair Chosen to Write & Direct Legendary’s TOXIC AVENGER Reboot

Macon Blair first hit horror fans’ radars as an actor; he had prominent roles in Jeremy Saulnier’s first three films: Murder Party, Blue Ruin, and Green Room among many other parts. In 2017, he directed his first feature, I Don’t Feel at Home in the World Anymore, which was one of my favorites of that year. Now, Variety is reporting that Blair has been tapped to helm a Toxic Avenger reboot for Legendary.

Legendary acquired the feature film rights in December and have quickly made the project a high priority at the studio. Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz of Troma Entertainment will serve as producers with Alex Garcia and Jay Ashenfelter overseeing for Legendary.

In the original Toxic Avenger: “A 98-pound nerd (played by Mark Torgl) from New Jersey lands in a vat of toxic waste and becomes a benevolent monster (played by Mitchell Cohen).” Released in 1984, movie spawned three sequels, a comic at Marvel, a kids’ cartoon, and even a stage musical. While we wait for the reboot to get off the ground, check out the trailer for the original below.
