HELLBOY Characters Punching Their Way Into BRAWLHALLA Next Month

Ubisoft has partnered with Lionsgate and Millennium Media to bring four characters from the Hellboy franchise into their popular free-to-play fighting game Brawlhalla next month, although the exact date was not specified. This news comes after Ubisoft’s mascot, Rayman, was added to the Blue Mammoth-developed game, with indie gaming icon Shovel Knight also joining the roster last year. Interestingly, this will be Hellboy’s second appearance in a fighting game after Injustice 2 back in 2017.

Alongside Hellboy himself, other characters from Mike Mignola’s comic series set to appear in Brawlhalla include Nimue, Gruagach, and Ben Daimio. Although there is currently no footage of them in action, a very cool piece of artwork showing the heroes in action can be viewed above.

Having been available since 2015 during its Beta and officially released in 2017, Brawlhalla has amassed a total of over 15 million players, and it has become an esports phenomenon. A large part of the success of the 2D Smash Bros-style fighter likely comes down to the fact that it features cosmetic-only microtransactions instead of utilizing a pay-to-win system. So it comes as no surprise to learn that companies are so eager to get their characters in the game. If you’d like to give Brawlhalla a go, it’s currently available on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.

Meanwhile, Hellboy will open in wide release on April 12. The film was directed by Neil Marshall, and stars David Harbour, Milla Jovovich, Thomas Haden Church, Ian McShane, and Sasha Lane.
