Legal Saga Rages On! Don’t Expect a New FRIDAY THE 13TH Movie Anytime Soon
When we last updated you all on the status of the long-running (and highly contentious) lawsuit raging between original Friday the 13th scribe Victor Miller and director Sean Cunningham, we hoped to soon have good news to deliver. Cunningham had withdrawn his notice to appeal Miller’s victory and, even though it was over a technicality, everyone was hoping the two would finally come to the table and reconcile in good faith.
No such luck.
Cunningham has refiled his appeal. This means that the reversion of rights Miller had been granted in 2018 are now, once again, in limbo. In laymen’s’ terms: Don’t expect a new Friday the 13th movie anytime soon, because the fight isn’t over–and things will likely get messier than ever.
