Former Ozzy Osbourne Guitar Player Says Infamous “Snorting Ants” Story Never Happened
Jake E. Lee was the guitar player for Ozzy Osbourne during the Black Sabbath frontman’s Bark at the Moon tour in 1984. He recently told the folks at Loudwire (via Tone-Talk) that the infamous story about Ozzy snorting a line of ants is nothing more than an exaggerated urban legend. The supposed incident was recreated in the recent Mötley Crüe biopic, The Dirt, which recently debuted on Netflix.
“I was there, and I never saw ants,” Jake E. Lee told Tone-Talk. “I was right there. He snorted a little spider. There was a not a trail of fucking ants there. Tommy [Lee] says it, Nikki says it, Ozzy says it — they were fucked up. I was not. I was just trying to get a fucking sun tan. That’s all I was doing. They were getting fucked up. Ozzy snorted a little tiny stupid spider that was crawling across. There was no ants — there was no fucking ants. I don’t care what the other guys say — there was no ants.”
Um, snorting a spider is still pretty hardcore dude! No word on whether or not Ozzy actually licked up a puddle of Nikki Sixx’s pee. To tell the truth, I don’t even want to know!
Mötley Crüe played their last show ever on November 22nd, 2014; they even signed a cease of touring contract making a live-performance reunion technically illegal. Ozzy Osbourne recently had to cancel all 2019 tour dates following an injury that dislodged metal screws and plates from a near-fatal ATV accident in 2003.
