Members of METALLICA Kick Off Baseball Game with Shredding Rendition of Star-Spangled Banner
At a time when Heavy Metal Mecca was Hollywood’s Sunset Strip, Metallica bucked trends by relocating from Los Angeles to the San Francisco Bay Area in the early 1980s. Since then, the band’s long-term residency has become a source of pride for the entire city and surrounding counties.

That’s why James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett were invited to deliver a shredding rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner before a recent Giants game at Oracle Park. It may not top Jimi Hendrix’s infamous performance at Woodstock, but it’s pretty damn cool nonetheless!
