Trailer: Sam Raimi and Alexandre Aja Team Up For Alligator Horror Film CRAWL

Holy shit, this looks good.

Paramount has released a trailer for their upcoming nature vs. human horror film Crawl, which sees a father/daughter team trapped in their house during a hurricane when an alligator decides to join in on the fun.

Couple giant natural destruction scenes with intense, claustrophobic horror and Crawl looks like a throwback to pure, unadulterated mayhem. This is gonna be a goddamn blast!

When a massive hurricane hits her Florida hometown, Haley ignores evacuation orders to search for her missing father. Finding him gravely injured in the crawl space of their family home, the two become trapped by quickly encroaching floodwaters. As time runs out to escape the strengthening storm, Haley and her father discover that the rising water level is the least of their fears.

A fun gimmick was also employed for the trailer release whereby Instagram users posted an interesting but cryptic looking square parodying the infamous FYRE orange SQ on their accounts. This includes the cast of Jersey Shore, Floribama, and Siesta Key, as well as a long list of models. Here are some examples. Make sure to follow Crawl‘s Instagram to see what they’re all up to.

Written by Michael Rasmussen and Shawn Rasmussen with Sam Raimi producing, Crawl is directed by Alexandre Aja. It stars Kaya Scodelario, Barry Pepper, and Ross Anderson.

Crawl comes to theaters on July 12.
