DREAD Presents: Bigfoot is a-Coming and it Ain’t No HOAX

DREAD is heading into the woods to find Bigfoot as we excitedly announce that we’ve acquired and will be releasing Hoax later this summer! In the vein of such films as Willow Creek, Friday the 13th, and Blair Witch, the film features a helluva cast that includes Cheryl Texiera (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Girl Meets World), Brian Thompson (Cobra, Dragonheart, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation), Ben Browder (Farscape), and Adrienne Barbeau (The Fog, Escape From New York, Swamp Thing).

On top of such a stellar cast, we’re thrilled that the film is scored by Alan Howarth, frequent John Carpenter collaborator who has worked on films such as Big Trouble in Little China, Escape From New York, and They Live.

Writer/director Matt Allen comments, “Working with Patrick Ewald, Rob Galluzzo, Yulissa Morales, and everyone at Epic and DREAD has been great. It was clear from the beginning that we’d found the perfect home for Hoax. The marketing ideas for the picture have been top-notch, and we’re excited to get this picture out to the horror audience this Summer.”

DREAD Director of Distribution Rob Galluzzo adds, “This is our first Bigfoot horror film for the DREAD slate, and it’s going to be such a treat for our loyal audience. It’s got a killer cast, a great score from Alan Howarth, and some really surprising, nasty twists and turns along the way. We’re excited to unleash Hoax this summer!”

Below are a few exclusive images from the film.

An investigative team travels deep into the remote Colorado wilderness after a group of young campers are viciously murdered by what may have been Bigfoot. While the highly specialized crew searches for evidence, they find themselves in a fight for survival against the legendary beast. What they encounter turns out to be more unexpected and dangerous than anything they could have ever imagined.

Directed by Matt Allen, who co-wrote alongside Scott Park, Hoax stars Cheryl Texiera, Ben Browder, Brian Thompson, and Adrienne Barbeau.

Epic Pictures will be at the Cannes Film Market next week with Hoax and the rest of the DREAD slate, including the previously announced acquisitions They’re Inside and Assassinaut.
