Tobias Forge Confirms There’s a GHOST Feature Film in the Works–But Not What You Might Be Thinking
In a recent interview with Revolver, Ghost frontman/mastermind Tobias Forge revealed there’s a Ghost feature film in the works. His comments suggest, however, that this won’t be your typical “rockumentary” or even a concert film, but something else entirely. Considering the cinematic nature of Ghost’s videos, something that relies heavily on fiction and worldbuilding seems natural.
Here’s what he told the music website:
“Most films about bands are biographical, and I see no reason to tell our story yet,” says Forge, who still considers Ghost to be in its early years. “It’s a little bit like premature ejaculation. You have to have a career first and then you can tell the real story, so that was never an option. And when you yank away that, what do you have? Well, that would be a fictional story.”
It could be a while, though, before the project comes to fruition.
“The cog wheels are turning on that one,” he says. “We’re just trying to figure out a lot of the practicalities. Making a film is a big endeavor. Another problem that I have had over the course of my career is that I don’t have a shit-ton of time. I’ve learned over the years that it’s really important not to do everything at once.”
Ghost is currently touring Europe with Metallica with plans to put out a new studio album in 2020. While we wait, rock out to the video for “Rats” below.
