Cross Your Heart, Hope to Die, Pull Some Glass Out of Your Eye in Gruesome Clip from BRIGHTBURN
Despite being promised an R-rated superhero adventure with horror undertones in Venom, Sony got cold feet, cut the most gruesome scenes, and released the Spider-Man spinoff as a PG-13 product. Still, horror fans continue to be titillated by the prospect of an R-rated superhero movie, something that truly crosses over into horror territory. Now, it looks like Brightburn could be the hero horror movie we’ve been craving!
Produced by James Gunn, that Brightburn will be Rated-R for horror violence. Now that’s music to our ears! The film is clearly a subversion of the now-archetypal Superman story arch, and the R-rating means director David Yarovesky won’t have to pull any punches.
Today, you can meet the “Bad Guy” in the latest TV spot for Brightburn, embedded at the top of the article. Then, check out the red-band, 3-minute clip below–and we dare you not to wince!
Synopsis:
What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister? With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.
David Yarovesky directed Brightburn from a screenplay penned by Brian Gunn and Mark Gunn; the film stars Elizabeth Banks, David Denman, and Matt Jones. Look for Brightburn to crash into US theaters beginning May 24th.
