Latest Casting News + Plot Details Reveal Blumhouse’s INVISIBLE MAN Will Be Something of a Ghost Story
Deadline broke the news that A Wrinkle in Time star Storm Reid has been hired to play Sydney in Blumhouse/Universal’s Invisible Man. She’ll be starring opposite Elizabeth Moss (Us) as the only other cast member announced so far. The fact that Johnny Depp, originally confirmed to play the titular Invisible Man was no longer a contender had us wondering if Moss would be the film’s “mad scientist”, essentially turning this iteration into The Invisible Woman?
The lack of plot details on IMDB definitely allowed for this hypothesis, but our friends at Bloody Disgusting appear to have gotten a lock on some juicy and telling details. While it dashes the Invisible Woman theory, it does reveal a substantial deviation from the source material (the novel by H.G. Wells and the classic Universal movie released in 1933). It appears that The Invisible Man will be something of a ghost story:
“The film follows Cecilia (Moss), who receives the news of her abusive ex-boyfriend’s suicide. She begins to rebuild her life for the better. However, her sense of reality is put into question when she begins to suspect her deceased lover is not actually dead.”
The film is written and directed by Leigh Whannell (Upgrade).
