DREAD Presents: HARPOON Trailer Goes Meta

Several years ago, I had a day job in an office building at a cubicle where my soul was slowly being drained away. Corporate meetings, by-the-book processes, no creativity…it just wasn’t for me. The only thing I looked forward to were the daily food trucks that parked outside the building, each day a new type of cuisine. For the life of me, I can’t remember what their names were or what cuisine came on which day but I do remember that one day was an Italian sub truck called Joe’s – or something generic like that – that was, y’know…okay. But what made it amusing was a large quote plastered on the side of the truck:

“The best damn meatball subs in the state!” – Joe’s Mom

Funny, right? The quote was large enough to draw attention while the source was small enough to make you look but once you put two and two together, it earned a genuine chuckle. I just wish Joe’s mom had better taste buds.

The reason I’m regurgitating all of this nonsense is because that story is 100% relevant to the marketing campaign for our latest DREAD acquisition: Rob Grant’s Harpoon.

Hot off the recent announcement, a trailer has been dropped that skewers the concept of quote-heavy teasers. While it’s easy enough to grab great quotes from reviews and slap them into a trailer, if people don’t check the accuracy of these snippets, why not just throw in whatever the hell you want? That’s why this movie is “Tense as Hell” and considered the “Best Movie Ever Made”. Or is it? Hell, we just love it and we are psyched to be putting it out in early 2020, so why not have some fun with it, right? Give it a watch below and see for yourself!

“Rob Grant has crafted a dark, twisted, funny feature that is unlike anything else on our slate,” said Rob Galluzzo, director of distribution at Dread. “We’re so thrilled and excited to share this unique flick with U.S. audiences!”

“Rivalries, dark secrets, and sexual tension emerge when three best friends find themselves stranded on a yacht in the middle of the ocean under suspicious circumstances.“

Directed and co-written by Rob Grant, co-written by Mike Kovac, starring Munro Chambers, Emily Tyra, & Christopher Gray.
