JACOB’S LADDER Remake Gets Official Summer Release Date
Vertical Entertainment has landed the US rights to the Jacob’s Ladder remake, which they will be releasing in an interesting fashion this summer, per Deadline. The distributor will put the film on DISH first this July with a theatrical release in August. This announcement comes after many delays for the movie.
Based on the 1990 film by Adrian Lyne, writer Jeff Buhler began working on this feature as early as 2013. In interviews since, he has stated that while there will be a twist ending, it will not be the same as in the original film.
“Jacob Singer is getting his life back together after his brother is killed in Afghanistan. Jacob has a beautiful wife, a new born child and a successful career as surgeon in a VA hospital. When a stranger approaches Jacob and reveals that his brother is actually alive and living in an underground shelter with other homeless vets, Jacob’s life starts to unravel. He begins hallucinating, believes he is being followed by violent attackers and becomes paranoid about the truth of what really happened to his brother. When he discovers that his brother is alive and addicted to an experimental drug, he uncovers a secret he never could have been prepared for.“
Directed by David M. Rosenthal and written by Jeff Buhler and Sarah Thorp, Jacob’s Ladder stars Michael Ealy, Jesse Williams, Nicole Beharie, and Karla Souza.
