Mike Mignola Says Netflix HELLBOY Reboot Rumors Are False

Yesterday, several entertainment outlets reported that a new Hellboy reboot is in the works at Netflix. Dread Central didn’t cover this “news” and it’s a good thing we didn’t because, apparently, it isn’t true. Hellboy creator Mike Mignola personally slapped these rumors down on Twitter.

“As far as we know this is not true…”

Neil Marshall’s Hellboy hasn’t even arrived on DVD yet, so talks of another reboot seem incredibly premature (no matter how much of a failure Hellboy 2019 may have been). From a practical standpoint, Hellboy has been a notoriously difficult property to adapt cinematically, so don’t expect anyone anywhere to attempt another interaction without some serious planning. A proper Hellboy reboot can’t be rushed.

If you haven’t seen Neil Marshall’s colossal dud, check out the trailer and synopsis for Hellboy below.

Synopsis:
Based on the graphic novels by Mike Mignola, Hellboy, caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human, battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge.

Hellboy 2019 stars David Harbour, Milla Jovovich, and Ian McShane.
