Endgame's Umbra Lands Both a New Writer and a New DirectorIs it horror? Is it sci-fi? Is it horror/sci-fi? Those are the questions we’ve been asking about Endgame Entertainment’s upcoming flick Umbra, and now that the project has a new writer AND a new director on board, we should be able to find out the answers sooner rather than later.

Per Deadline, Martin Campbell (Green Lantern, Edge of Darkness) has been set to helm Umbra, which previous director Joe Carnahan (whose The Grey is opening later this month) has amicably dropped out of for personal reasons. Paul Haggis (pictured; Million Dollar Baby, Crash), who did rewrite work on the Campbell-directed Casino Royale, has also been brought on to rework the script. Shooting will begin in the spring.

No word if Bradley Cooper is still slated to star as “David Underwood”, an investment banker who finds himself mixed up in a major government conspiracy involving an alien plot to breed with human chromosomes, but we expect more details and casting news shortly now that this team is in place.

Endgame’s James Stern is producing with Hal Lieberman, and Campbell’s production partner Lucienne Papon has also joined as producer. The script was originally written by Steven Karczynski, and Carnahan had done re-write work on the most recent draft.

Depending on which side of the horror/sci-fi fence this lands on, we may or may not have more soon!
