R.I.P. Leo the Cat: Furry Star of PET SEMATARY Has Passed Away
One of the non-human stars of 2019’s Pet Sematary has passed away. Leo was one of four Maine Coon cats who played Church in Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer’s adaptation of Stephen King’s novel. Leo’s trainer, Kirk Jarrett, broke the news on Instagram:
“It is with great sadness that we tell you that Leo has passed away He will be forever missed by his human and fur family. May his star always shine bright.”
Pet Sematary is currently in that dark limbo between its theatrical bow and its digital/Blu-ray/DVD/VOD release. If you missed it, give the synopsis and trailer a spin below.
Synopsis:
Dr. Louis Creed and his wife, Rachel, relocate from Boston to rural Maine with their two young children. The couple soon discover a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near their new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his neighbor Jud Crandall, setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unspeakable evil with horrific consequences.
In addition to Leo, Pet Sematary stars Jason Clarke, Amy Seimetz, and John Lithgow.
No jokes about burrying Leo in the Pet Sematary, please.
