Sony’s ESCAPE ROOM 2 Release Date Bumped Back by Four Months

Escape Room was the first major horror movie released in 2019 and it surprised audiences for being, well, pretty damn good. Sony had previously announced plans for a sequel with an April 17th, 2020 target release date. Today, however, we’re getting work from Exhibitor Relations Co. that the film has been pushed back by four months.

We’ll now have to wait until August 14th to see Escape Room 2 (working title).

Besides this new release date, we don’t know anything about Escape Room 2 so far. Stay tuned and check back often for additional details as they emerge. In the meantime, you can check out the synopsis and trailer for 2019’s Escape Room below.

Synopsis:
Six adventurous strangers travel to a mysterious building to experience the escape room — a game where players compete to solve a series of puzzles to win $10,000. What starts out as seemingly innocent fun soon turns into a living nightmare as the four men and two women discover each room is an elaborate trap that’s part of a sadistic game of life or death.

Escape Room is directed by Adam Robitel and stars Taylor Russell, Logan Miller, and Jay Ellis.
