A Sequel to James Gunn’s BRIGHTBURN is Being Discussed
Regular readers of Dread Central know that we were huge fans of the Jame Gunn-produced, superhero horror Brightburn. Now, we’re hearing murmurs of a potential sequel in the works–from Gunn himself. Here’s what he told an inquisitive fan on Twitter who wants to see the filmmaker both produce and direct a follow up:
“I think I’m tied up [directing] for the next few years with Suicide Squad and the Guardians, but we’re talking about the sequel.”
If you missed Brightburn when it was in theaters, a Blu-ray/DVD will hit retailers on August 20th. You can check out the synopsis and trailer below.
Synopsis:
What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister? With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.
Brightburn is directed by David Yarovesky from a screenplay penned by Brian Gunn and Mark Gunn. The film stars Elizabeth Banks, David Denman, and Jackson A. Dunn.
