Exclusive Images From Titan Books’ THE MAKING OF ALIEN

In 1979, cinematic history was made when Ridley Scott’s Alien was released. The film introduced the world to the Xenomorph, the banana head-shaped alien that has since become a pop culture icon. Designed by Swiss artist H.R. Giger, the creature has been seen in multiple films, TV shows, video games, comics, books, and more, cementing its place as one of cinema’s most recognizable characters.

On July 30, Titan Books will be releasing J.W. Rinzler’s The Making of Alien, a gorgeous hardcover book that follows the making of the film from its inception in the mind of writer Dan O’Bannon to the mark it has left on the world. Featuring brand new interviews with cast and crew as well as never-before-seen photographs and artwork, I think it’s safe to say that this book is a must-have for fans of the Alien franchise.

Today, ahead of its advance release at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, we were able to get our hands on seven images from the book, some of which are familiar while others perhaps not as much. No matter what, each of these photos is a historical snapshot of the making of one of the greatest sci-fi horror films of all time.
