Sitges 2019: Sam Neill To Receive Grand Honorary Award; Rob Zombie’s 3 FROM HELL To Show

This year’s Sitges Film Festival, which takes place in Sitges, Spain, will be honoring Kiwi actor Sam Neill with the Grand Honorary Award for his work over the past few decades. Neill has appeared in films such as Possession, Jurassic Park, In The Mouth of Madness, The Hunt For Red October, and more.

Sitges has also unveiled several films that will play during its run, including the announcement that Rob Zombie’s latest tale of horror 3 From Hell. Also playing will be Adam Egypt Mortimer’s Daniel Isn’t Real, Hideo Nakata’s Sadako, Ant Timpson’s Come to Daddy, Henry Jacobson’s Bloodline, Severin Fiala and Veronika Franz’s The Lodge, Lorcan Finnegan’s Vivarium, Abe Forsythe’s Little Monsters, Larry Fessenden’s Depraved, and Christian Volckman’s The Room.

In addition, Sitges is proud to showcase and champion the works of female filmmakers, which they say will “…occupy a predominant space.” This includes films like Mirrah Foulkes’ Judy and Punch, Jocelyn DeBoer and Dawn Luebbe’s Greener Grass, Mitzi Peirone’s Braid, Pollyanna McIntosh’s Darlin’, Roxanne Benjamin’s Body at Brighton Rock, and Jovanka Vuckovic’s Riot Girls.

The world of animation will also play a big role in Sitges’ offerings, with films like Keiichi Hara’s The Wonderland, Ayumu Watanabe’s Children of the Sea, and a presentation of One Piece Stampede, based on the manga by Eiichiro Oda. Hailing out of France will be Zabou Breitman and Eléa Gobbé-Mévellec’s Les hirondelles de Kaboul and China will also be present with Amp Wong and Zhao Ji’s White Snake.
