Wesley Snipes Responds to Mahershala Ali Being Cast as the New BLADE
One of the biggest news items out of San Diego Comic-Con (which wrapped on Sunday) was the surprise announcement that Marvel is rebooting Blade with Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali cast as the lead. So how does Wesley Snipes, the actor who made Blade iconic in the original film trilogy, feel about being passed over for the remake?

Was he as surprised as the rest of us? Absolutely. Is he upset? No–even though he’s been championing his own return to the Blade franchise for years. Here’s an excerpt from a statement the actor released through ComicBook.com:
“To all the DAYWALKERS losing their minds right now, chillaaxx. Although the news comes as a surprise, it’s ALL GOOD. Such is the ‘business’ of ‘entertainment!’ Much peace to the MCU crew – always a fan,” Snipes says. “Honor and respect to the grandmaster Stan. Congratulations and Salaam to Mahershala Ali, a beautiful and talented artist whose expressions I look forward to experiencing for many years to come. Inshallah, we will someday work together.
