Exclusive Image Gallery for INFECCIÓN Coming to Popcorn Frights Film Festival
The Mexican/Venezuelan horror movie Infección will enjoy its US premiere at the Popcorn Frights Film Festival in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday, August 11th. Today, Dread Central is thrilled to present an exclusive image gallery from the film; have a look-see below.
Synopsis:
Packed with more blood, more gore, and more bone-chilling, jaw-dropping thrills than your heart’s desire, Infección is a ferocious new nightmare in the zombie canon. In Caracas, a Russian under the influence of the Krokodil drug is infected with a rabies virus and unleashes an epidemic of flesh-eating cannibals. Amid all this, a doctor embarks on a hostile journey in a destroyed Venezuela to save his son from infection. Like a nightmare, director Flavio Pedota takes shreds of contemporary reality and turns it into something new, something with a broad streak of social satire that captures the turbulent air befalling Venezuela today out on our front pages: the deaths, the destruction, the secrets tragedies people have taken to their grave. These crazed, flesh-eating horde breakdown and up-end the natural order of society into an endless war, endless threat, and endless fear that serves as a timeless warning.
Infección is directed by Flavio Pedota from a screenplay co-scribed by Yeimar Cabral; the film stars Rubén Guevara, Leonidas Urbina, and Magdiel González.

“Infeccion is the first zombie movie made in Venezuela, made independently with the goal of inspiring all the genre fans to leave a message about the actual political and social situation of Venezuela,” Pedota tells us. “I’m excited to be screening at Popcorn Frights Film Festival for so many reasons, the reputation of the festival and films played there make it a great platform to host the US premiere.”
