Joint Venture Rakuten H Collective Studio Announces THE BEAST

Japan’s Rakuten has joined forces with Los Angeles’ The H Collective to create Rakuten H Collective Studio, a new movie production studio based in Japan. The studio will, “…comprehensively engage in the in-house production of films, financing, intellectual property management, and the production and sale of video content on a variety of platforms.” Additionally, they’ll be looking outside of movies to see what opportunities lie in music, comics, games, and other platforms.

One of the projects this joint partnership has announced is Aaron W. Sala’s horror/thriller The Beast, which is being directed by Pimp‘s Christine Crokos. An interview with Sala about his script can be read here.

The Beast follows the lone survivor of a plane crash who washes ashore on a mysterious island where she faces her worst fears.

No cast has been announced and no production date set.
