VFX Artists Give The Marvel Cinematic Universe A Gory Makeover
Since the release of Iron Man back in 2008, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown to become not only the highest-grossing film series of all time, but also one of the prominent cultural phenomena of the 21st century. And while we love the MCU as much as the rest of you, we still wish the films would go that extra mile by not shying away from graphic violence. While the Marvel Netflix shows, which take place in the MCU, are filled with gore, and there is a possibility that the upcoming Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali might carry an R-rating, every single MCU film to date has been rated PG-13.
However, a bunch of talented VFX artists from the Corridor Crew YouTube channel decided to give the MCU an R-rated makeover by digitally inserting blood and gore into some of the key action sequences. The fact that the video now has over two million views means their efforts obviously paid off.
The artists clearly know what they’re doing, because they talk the viewer through the complex process of adding realistic injury detail into the shots. The scenes they used come from Iron Man and Captain America: Civil War, and the gore they added in looks so realistic you’d be forgiven for thinking it was part of the film in the first place.
You can enjoy the video above, but be warned, you’ll never be able to look at Captain America in the same way again after seeing him perform a decapitation with his shield.
