ALONE IN THE WOODS New Album KWAIDAN Comes Out Tomorrow
Tomorrow sees the release of Kwaidan, the sophomore release from electronic band Alone in the Woods. This is a group we’ve spoken about previously on Dread Central and we’re thrilled to help announce their new album, which we’ve heard and absolutely love.
For those unaware, Alone in the Woods is the brainchild of Tiger Labs Vinyl co-founder Jon Dobyns and hip hop producer Lonn Bologna. Together, they used to be known as Twitch the Ripper and are now releasing new music under this moniker.
Inspired by the writings of short story author Lafcadio Hearn, Kwaidan tells the tale of Yakumo Koizumi, a man born in Ireland, shaped in New Orleans, and finally at home in Japan. With such a worldly mentality, the music of this album feels like it bears traits from all over, a unique mishmash of instruments, tones, and scales that break down barriers. Boasting 13 original tracks, Kwaidan is hypnotic and arresting, featuring passages of true beauty and unafraid to venture into the mysterious.
Released by Cadabra Records, Kwaidan will include an a 18″ x 24″ poster, liner notes from Japanese cinema scholar Marc Walkow, a digital download code, and will see a limited pressing on 160-gram vinyl that will be housed in a deluxe heavy-weight gatefold tip-on jacket with new art by Zakuro Aoyama.
The album will be made available on Cadabra Records’ official website.
