Some pretty interesting details concerning the upcoming Season 3 of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” hit the Internet today along with a bit of news clarifying who won’t be playing the Governor on the show.
According to the folks at Lilja’s Library, the small town of Senoia, Georgia, in Coweta County is about to become “zombie central” with the show scheduled to shoot in the town in May. Construction of zombie sets will begin next week and will involve 60 local carpenters. Scott Tigchelaar of Raleigh Studios Atlanta says people can expect to see the town a little dirtier than normal to fit the look of the show.
In addition, according to the IMDb, Marvin Duerkholz (The Devil Inside, “Teen Wolf”) is set to appear in “The Walking Dead”‘s Season 3 premiere episode as Phillip Eagle, a new character who does not appear in the comics.
Now, as for that Governor clarification, the rumor was that John Hawkes was under consideration to play Philip Blake, the psychotic zombie killer who declares himself the Governor of Woodbury. Sadly, Hawkes’ publicist has stated that “John is NOT appearing on ‘The Walking Dead’.” Maybe the part will go to Tom Savini after all!
